How it works
Preserve the record, then analyze it
The archive
A collector gathers official statements and releases from Indo-Pacific defense and foreign ministries and keeps the original text with its source link and date. Machine translations and summaries help readers search the archive. They are labeled as machine-generated and are not editorially reviewed.
The briefs
Weekly briefs are human editorial analysis. They separate what an official source says from what is established and from analytical inference, and link each claim back to the preserved record.
The project began as The PLA Watch. Its earlier archive (opens in a new tab) (May to August 2026) remains online. The current team includes Jophy Lin, Communications Editor, and Dylan Tanzi, Lead Research Analyst.
